INTRODUCTION:

      A new DAATT Centre was established on 01.04.2023 at Rajamahendravaram, East Godavari district after formation of new districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Objectives / Mandate:

  • To assess and refine farm technologies developed by the research scientists and their suitability to different farming situations

  • To conduct field diagnostic visits and advise the farmers.

  • To organize kisan melas / rythusadassu, T&V bi-monthly work shops

  • To extend expertise and conduct training programmes to Department officials, farmers and input agencies.

  • To assist and implement RAWE programme.

  • To coordinate with All India Radio, Television and print media for transmission of needed agricultural information in the district.

Additional Mandate from 01.04.2023:

  • To linkup and work in convergence with Y.S.R. RBKs and DRC of W.G. Dist. to train the VAAs on crop production aspects.
  • Development and reorientation of village level crop plans and cropping intensity strategies  for newly formed East Godavari District.

TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPED:

  • Developed best cropping system modules for doubling of farmers income.
  • Developed INM and IPM technologies for major crops in the district which are highly successful and effective in farmers fields.
  • Introduction of Wet Direct Seeding by using drum seeder to reduce the labour during peak periods and also to reduce cost of cultivation of rice resulted in increase in farmers income.
  • Introduction of economically viable and suitable alternative crops to tobacco and rice under borewells during Rabi season.
  • Conducted / participated in more than 120 training programmes to dissiminate the latest production and protection technologies of different crops for the benefit of farming community and Extension functionaries like ADA’s, MAO’s, AEO’s, VAA’s, VHA’s of Dept. of Agriculture and allied sectors.
  • Popularized the seed village concept and one crop/variety one village concepts.

VARIETIES DEVELOPED:

  • Associated in popularization and release of 3 rice varieties i.e MTU 1271, MTU 1290 and MTU 1282.
