INTRODUCTION

The Polytechnic of Agriculture, Rampachodavaram was established by Govt. of Andhra Pradesh by G.O. Ms. No.87, dt.06.08.2013 by principal secretary to government. Initially the polytechnic was started its functioning at SKVT degree college premises at Rajahmundry. Later in the year 2018, the polytechnic was shifted from Rajahmundry to Irlapalli Village of Rampachodavaram with 30 intakes of students for each year. The polytechnic was given a main building belonging to ITDA and a hostel was allotted belonging to Ashram Girls school.  The institute was recently allotted 3.32 acres of Govt. land for taking up of farming activities.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

The two-year span Diploma in Agriculture program consists of 26 courses ranging agronomy, plant pathology, entomology, horticulture, extension, economics and chemistry. The Participatory Agricultural Management Program (PAMP) encompasses field work, raining of crop from seed to seed, value addition, surveys and entrepreneurship. Students are also imparted soft skills, and hands on training. Officer in Charge of Academic Matters (OAM) will look after routine academic activities such as regular running of classes, time tables, conduct of SFP and SFT examinations.

COLLEGE ACCOMMODATION

CLRC building belonging to water resource department under ITDA was allotted to be used as main building with all basic necessary facilities such as electricity and water supply with 24×7 wi-fi network.

HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION

Anjanadhri boys’ hostel is located adjacent to the main building with a capacity to accommodate 50 boys in two floors. The hostel is equipped with regular power and water supply. Hot water is available during winters. Regular cleaning of hostel rooms and wash rooms are taken up by a dedicated worker who will look after the cleaning of the hostel building. The hostel is under watch and ward and a Warden will look after hostel and running of mess. Every month, mess bills are calculated and displayed in notice boards. A proper documentation has been maintained.

GAMES AND SPORTS

The polytechnic engaged part time physical director with all necessary sports and games equipment. Two shuttle courts, one volley ball court, long jump court and cricket ground are available. Running and yoga are daily practised at early hours. Besides these indoor games such as carroms and chess are also available. Physical education classes are regularly conducted at morning and evening. Officer In charge of Students’ Activities (OSA) will look after all sports and games related activities.

SCHOLARSHIPS

The eligible students belong to S.C, S.T, B.C, EBC category are receiving Scholarship from the respective Welfare Offices. SC/ST students are also receiving dress allowance from the state government. Some scholarships are received from community-based corporations.

PLACEMENT CELL AND EMPLOYMENT OF THE STUDENTS

Students who complete 2 years Diploma in Agriculture are having diverse avenues for their prospects such as private and governmental agencies. Few are seeking admissions for higher studies in agriculture, biology, commerce, tourism, computer science and business administration streams.  A separate placement cell has been functioning in the campus and JACT is acting as Placement cell in charge.

HIGHER EDUCATION

Students who did diploma in agriculture are appearing for AGRICET and last year 5 students got selected for admission and joined B. Sc. (Hons) Agriculture Program of ANGRAU/other SAUs.

The institute offers excellent facilities, verdant spaces, serene beauty, striking colours, stunning landscape with its natural picture square makes a perfect place to study.
